Subaru of America Fights Against Childhood Hunger with the 2019 Share The Love Event

Celebrating the kick-off of the Subaru Share the Love Event, Subaru of America hosted an event to help combat hunger in their hometown of Camden, New Jersey. Partnering with the Food Bank of South Jersey, Subaru of America was able to provide the necessary nutrition for Camden’s food-insecure youth over the weekend.

“As we launch our annual Subaru Share the Love Event to support national and local charities, we wanted to once again show our dedication to those in our hometown,” said Thomas J. Doll, President and CEO, Subaru of America, Inc. “We hope this special event and landmark KidzPack donation will have a positive impact on the children of Camden, giving them every advantage to grow and learn without hunger.”

On November 14, 2019, hundreds of employees at Subaru headquarters in Camden, New Jersey packed and donated 15,000 ‘KidzPacks.’ Each ‘KidzPack’ contained four meals to help sustain food-insecure children throughout the weekend. Through this event and a corresponding donation, Subaru will continue to provide necessary nutrition to Camden’s food-insecure youth to prevent weekend hunger, for the rest of the school year.

“We are thrilled to once again work with Subaru to help serve the nutritional needs of our youngest community members,” said Fred C. Wasiak, President and CEO, Food Bank of South Jersey. “With this donation from Subaru, the Food Bank of South Jersey will be able to provide meals on a weekly basis to hundreds of children for an entire school year.”

In Camden County alone, there are over 17,200 food-insecure children. The 15,000 ‘Kidzpacks’ donated from Subaru marks a 125% increase compared to their donation last year. The 15,000 ‘KidzPacks’ prepared by Subaru’s employees also sets a new record for the most ‘KidzPacks’ prepared and donated at one time.

The Subaru Share the Love Event is running now through January 2, 2020. For every new Subaru vehicle purchased or leased, Subaru will donate $250 to the customer’s choice of the following national charities: The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), Make-A-Wish, Meals on Wheels America, or the National Park Foundation. Subaru retailers are also able to add a local charity of their choice for their customers to support. There is no cap on the total donations each partnering charity can receive, so stop in to Subaru Bennington today! Purchase your new Subaru and help out a charity this holiday season!
