Bennington Subaru

Bennington Subaru began in 1998 when we took over for Green Mountain Subaru. For the first two years, we remained in the same location providing great vehicles and service to the Bennington area. Alas, every business grows and sometimes outgrows, and that is exactly what happened to us. In late 1999, Owner Tom Lyons purchased an old storage building which had been essentially left vacant. The process of rebuilding began almost immediately. After months of completely renovating the interior and exterior of the building, the dealership had been completed. And just like that, we went from a humble 2,000 square foot dealership to an almost 12,000 square foot one.  In November of 2000, a caravan of Subarus processed across the Town of Bennington, Vermont, and the new dealership was built, stocked, and ready to go.  Shortly after that, the Grand Opening was held ... and what a success it was!  People enjoyed a food, our new atmosphere, and refreshments ... the building looked great and we were told that the location would indeed make a great place for our business. The town enjoyed our new facility so much that our local newspaper, The Bennington Banner, wrote that we renovated an abandoned building for the good of the community.  After all of the festivities, business resumed and Bennington Subaru began to provide more and more safe and reliable new Subarus and used vehicles to the community.  We grew a Service Department to almost double its prior size, and we were able to provide service for all types of vehicles.

We have continued to grow into one of the predominant Subaru dealers in the state of Vermont. Over the years, we have had happy customers and gained the support of the community in Bennington.  Over the past few years, Subaru has become one of the most popular cars in the State of Vermont, many even refer to it as the "State Car of Vermont", and we would like to think that we had a part in that.  Our philosophy is that we have a great product and that the more people who have the opportunity to experience our cars, the better we feel at the end of the day.  We also feel that giving people a positive experience when purchasing a vehicle is not only a job, but something that we strive for every day. The simple fact is: if you are not happy neither are we and we strive to keep all of our customers satisfied.  At Bennington Subaru we cultivated a very family-friendly environment where we focus on not only selling cars, but providing a great experience to each and every person who walks through our doors.

Bennington Subaru is locally owned by Tom Lyons, a man who is highly involved in the community with such programs as the Rotary, the Chamber of Commerce, The Bennington Museum, and many others.  Bennington Subaru has also become a family business as Tom's son and daughter also participate in the business. Tom's son, Tommy Lyons II, is the Sales Manager, and his daughter, Jenna Lyons, works in the Service Department.  Many of our employees have been with us for many years, a fact that only reinforces the feeling of family in our business.  Our dealership also has a friendly (but very big!) Newfoundland in residence- her name is Maggie, and she can be found here almost anytime that we are open- she is always happy to greet our customers.  Our customers are also a part of our extended family and we welcome you to stop in anytime- even if it's just to chat or have some popcorn from our really cool popcorn machine.  Come pay us a visit and meet our Bennington Subaru family!
